If you cannot safely operate the “like” button, you should not be trusted with the nation’s children.
Last week, children’s entertainer Ms. Rachel “accidentally liked” a comment that read, “Free America from Jews.” Ms. Rachel is a wildly popular children’s entertainer, known for brightly colored videos, singing nursery rhymes, and cheerful, “Dora the Explorer”-style call-and-response. In response to the backlash, Ms. Rachel posted a video casting herself as the injured party. Speaking in a wavering voice but without any visible tears, she lamented that she was “just human,” someone who “makes mistakes,” and simply isn’t “good at touching things online.”
Filming yourself while crying is a social media faux pas. Filming yourself while trying and failing to cry can only be described as pathetic.
Notably absent from her selfie-apology, however, was any serious acknowledgement of the harm caused, much less any reflection on why a call to expel Jews felt comfortable enough to appear and be endorsed on her page. She offered no recognition that antisemitism, not personal inconvenience, was at issue. Instead, Ms. Rachel cast not the seven in ten American Jews who report experiencing antisemitism last year, but herself, as the victim. Nevermind that Jew haters were emboldened by her actions; the true crime is that she almost shed an alligator tear before doubling down.
Notably absent was any serious acknowledgement of the harm caused, much less any reflection on why a call to expel Jews felt comfortable enough to appear and be endorsed on her page.
Her broader social media presence reflects this preoccupation with her own sensitivity. Posts addressed to her followers dwell on her own emotional burdens rather than accountability. One self-edifying post reads, “To those who have extreme empathy, do you also have anxiety?” In the comments, Ms. Rachel continued: “I wonder if it’s because we imagine things vividly and can put ourselves in someone else’s shoes & feel so much for them but we can also imagine everything that could go wrong at any time vividly.”
Yet again, Ms. Rachel is the victim here. Sure, photos of Syrian refugee families may be tragic for the children pictured, but what we should really be concerned with is how they make Ms. Rachel “feel so much.”
The majority of her other Instagram posts, including more than three-quarters of those posted in November, when a ceasefire had already taken place, focused squarely on Gaza. Concurrently in November, the Iranian Fundamentalist Regime hanged an average of 11 people per day, and an estimated one million Uyghur Muslims remained detained in concentration camps by Chinese authorities. On these issues? Silence.
In another post addressing the controversy, she wrote, “Silence in the face of injustice might also cause me to be more loved and for more people to watch the show, but I’m not going to do that either. I’m always going to speak out for kids whose human rights are being violated.”
The sleight of hand was hardly subtle. By “kids whose human rights are being violated,” Ms. Rachel did not mean the Bibas children kidnapped from their homes by terrorists. When Ms. Rachel has historically referenced “human rights violations” she has overwhelmingly meant those she perceives to be carried out by Israel.
After facing backlash for liking a comment that called for the ethnic cleansing of Jews, Jews themselves somehow disappeared as victims. The real victim, we were told, was Gaza, and the real offense was her failure to speak loudly enough. Rather than reckon with the antisemitism festering on her own platform, Ms. Rachel pivoted to attacking Israel, the world’s only Jewish state, through a thinly veiled proxy.
Alas, Ms. Rachel could not resist shifting blame onto Jews yet again. Beneath her apology post, an account named thepalestinenewsnetwerk commented, “Spoiler alert: They left the comment themselves.” Ms. Rachel replied, “Ooooooooooohhhhh.” Since Jews were the only subject of “the comment,” the pronoun required no decoding. If she were truly concerned about antisemitism, she would have shut the insinuation down, not joined in.
Such behavior explains why the comment appeared on her page in the first place. Antisemitism did not wander in by accident. It pulled up a chair because she set the table for it.
Ms. Rachel has a checkered past of antisemitism, as previous Aish contributors have dutifully explored. This includes reposting debunked libels about the Jewish State and engaging with unabashed antisemites.
In the past, Ms. Rachel has collaborated with Motaz Azaiza, an activist who has openly written on Twitter “May God curse the Jews,” and urged followers to support Hamas. After facing criticism, Ms. Rachel refused to even recognize these concerns and continued her profuse public praise of Azaiza.
To rebut accusations of past antisemitism, she chose to make her case to Mehdi Hasan, a commentator who has claimed that the supposed “Gaza Genocide” was “worse than.. even the Holocaust” and who literally recommends “verbal abuse and name-calling” as a debate tactic in his book Win Every Argument (page 60). If she intended to reassure, Hasan was a curious choice of character witness.
The truest tragedy of the affair is that millions of Americans rely on Ms. Rachel as they parent their children, and she has turned that trust into a cudgel. Parents put her videos on as an educational resource to entertain their children while they make lunch or steal a quiet cup of coffee. She has betrayed not only that trust, but childhood innocence itself.
Past giants of children’s entertainment had their causes too, but they addressed children as children, not as foot soldiers in adult political battles. Mr. Rogers challenged racism by inviting Officer Clemmons to share a pool at a time when America still segregated by color. Jim Henson filled Sesame Street with children and characters from every background, including multilingual families and children with disabilities, so that every child felt like they belonged.
Their advocacy was beloved because they understood that when your audience still needs help tying its shoes, you don’t hand them a manifesto.
Mr. Rogers built a neighborhood. Ms. Rachel has built a Speaker’s Corner soapbox.

As an agnostic I find these comments to be highly inflammatory. It dosen't sound helpful to me to hear the comment say that why doesn't a Jewish man just marry a Jewish woman as a solution. I dont agree with supporting anti semantic speech. The atrocities around the world committed in the name of one religion or another are a travesty. I have watched along with my children and currently with my grandchildren Ms Rachel and have never seen anything causing me to think that she is recruiting children to her so called antisemitic cause and validate her cancelation. I was horrified by the attack on Israel and supported military action to recover hostages but I was equally horrified by what appeared to genocide committed by Israel, who of all countries be sensitive to that.
Thanks for sharing that you have absolutely no knowledge of the Israeli-Gaza dispute. Gazans have been given several (7, I believe) opportunities for peace yet they choose to attempt destruction of a peaceful people and its nation. BTW, Israel is doing a horrible job of committing genocide. Again, you’d know this if you had knowledge instead of falsity.
.....and why is she still influencing vulnerable children? That in itself is so outrageous as to be unacceptable. Here is a real justification for BDS.
Had this weasel “liked” a comment expressing hatred toward any other group, and then lied that it was an accident, her career would have immediately ended.
We need to stop anybody from getting away with this type of outrage.
Does anybody remember what happened — rightly — to Arsenio Hall, after his puff interview with Louis Farrakhan (yimach sh’mo)? Why is this kind of trash so accepted today??
Rachel's mistake is grave and unforgivable because she planted the poison of anti-Semitism in the minds of children. We want to eliminate the adults who are anti-Semitic, and she is planting it in the minds of the young! So what is the solution? The solution is to stop broadcasting her program, which is disguised as honey. Cut off the head of the snake. Stop her program and issue her a warning from the channel manager, so that she serves as an example to others. If she is married to a non-Jew, her sin is great, but if her husband is truly Jewish, the sin is greater and more heinous.
I no longer allow my grandchildren to watch her show.
Ms. Rachel thinks she’s talking to children when she tries to explain herself. She has to start realizing that when adults are her audience they can see right through her. And her fake crying is ridiculous.
Fake crying is called crocodile tears, the chutzpah is big that she is married to a jew, and her kids have a Jewish seed, and she talks against her own flesh and blood, isn't it a form of child abuse, someone should call child services to take away her children from her, because their father is Jewish, and this acting is technically a big form of child abuse in my humble opinion
Let her try saying "MAN..THOSE BLACKS! AFRO-AMERiCANS! IF THEY STOPPED LOOTING FOR A SECOND, THEY WOULD BE A GREAT GROUP HERE IN AMERICA! YOU DON'T HEAR ABOUT BLACKS LOOTING IN THE UK! I GUESS WE GOT THE BAD BATCH"...Let her TRY saying that, and then doing the EXACT SAME APOLOGY (if you call it that. OOPS is not I'm sorry ya know!).
If she says that about blacks she would really be in hot water, she only has chutzpah to do it do Jews and Israel, if she did it to another minority she wouldn't get away with it. Jews must do something to stop her
How inappropriate her name “Ms. Rachel,” the antithesis of Rachel Imeinu!
I heard the best comment on the subject:
Speaking in a baby voice does not make you innocent…
It makes look like a idiot, and hide behind a innocent voice
Very good point
The barbaric and vicious, vile and evil terrorists murdered the cute and red headed Bibas babies with their bare hands why doesn't this anti Jewish angry monster talk about the Jewish and Israeli Men, Women, Children murdered by the Hamas terrorists how much do people get from Qatar to spread these lies, I guess the Nazi( Y"S) playbook with using propaganda and lies, and falsehoods is working, and the gullible people that are ignorant unfortunately believe her, and to top it off she is married to a Jew it is like Samson married Delilah
I am sure that she hasn't been saying anything about the IRGC, Syria, Sudan, or Yemen...Nigeria? Makes me wonder who gave her the authority to speak about this? She is no different than the Palestinian Mickey Mouse. I saw excerpts of those on Memri and it was disgusting. Anti-Semites are sick minded people.
I just went to her page and it is suddenly all about Sudan. PR much??? Never seen her say a word about it but now she is rehabbing her image.
Why doesn't this vile and evil character talk about real human violations not make believe ones, the so called Palestinans are using something in psychology called projection what they want to do to Jews and Israel , they say the Jews and Israel want to do to them, and October 7, 2023 is the evidence
her husband’s cousin is jewish and posted on instagram what a rabid antisemite she is and that she works very hard at concealing her husband’s and her children’s “jewish heritage”.i think her husband’s mother might be jewish but they keep that way under wraps apparently. he said thy do not interact with the husband’s side of the family. let’s hear it for self hating jews.
Why do Jewish men marry anti Semitic women in the first place, what is wrong with a Jewish spouse
Because they’re ignorant and have no concept of what an invaluable gift a Jewish wife is. My Jewish wife greatest blessing G-d ever gave me.
Ignorance sadly leads to many otherwise unforced errors.
If she and her husband would be in Israel on October 7, 2023 they would be the ones being targeted too, what a twist of irony the hater of Jews and Israel has a Jewish family even though she is not Jewish, in the time of the Holocaust the whole family would of been in a concentration camp and or murdered by the Nazis ( Y"S) and that is a true fact according to history
Is there a petition to sign to get her off the air?
There ought to be, but most likely only concerned Jews would sign it!
While a well-written opinion piece like this one raises points for serious consideration, it's highly doubtful that apathetic non-Jews would want to waste their time thinking about it, despite the fact that they should care about the kind of person they're exposing their children to.
Therefore, IMHO future articles should be specifically addressed to the parents who entrust their kids to Ms. Rachel the rasha.
Your first sentence said absolutely everything we needed to know about Ms. Rachel. Yasher Koach on what you said in the rest of this brilliant essay! Rachel Accurso was sorry/not sorry for getting her hand caught in the cooky jar.
Boycott Ms. Rachel , get her show canceled , we Never Forgive and
Never Forget
Have the DOJ investigate her
That last name sounds dangerously close to “Accursed.”
