The well-known dietician and author has always been proudly Jewish. Now, she’s even more vocal about it.

Tanya Zuckerbrot is a well-known dietician and influencer in the health and wellness field. She has thousands of followers on social media and wrote a popular weight loss book, “The F-Factor Diet: Discover the Secret to Permanent Weight Loss.”

While she was always passionate about her Jewish identity and Israel, and sometimes mentioned it online and in her work, it wasn’t until October 7 happened that she went into full-on advocacy mode.

“That day changed everything,” Tanya told Aish. “Seeing Jewish men, women, and children slaughtered, raped, and taken hostage simply for being Jews was a modern-day pogrom. I realized silence was no longer an option.”

Since October 7, Tanya incorporates posts about Israel and Judaism into her social media and public appearances. She posts recipes for Jewish staples like challah and honey cake, updates her feed constantly with news about Israel, and speaks to media outlets about what’s going on with the Jewish community, not shying away from being outspoken in the face of antisemitism around the world. She also speaks at pro-Israel events, like the Friends of the IDF gala and challah bakes around New York, where she lives.

“We’ve seen the consequences of silence and complacency throughout our history,” she said. “The memory of the six million Jews who perished in the Holocaust, and the horrifying parallels between the hate they faced and what we’re seeing today, weighs on me deeply. But what also motivates me is the resilience of the Jewish people — our ability to rise from tragedy, rebuild, and keep our faith and identity intact. That’s what keeps me fighting.”

Reconnecting Jews with Their Heritage

Tanya is now running on the Aish Ha’Am slate to become a delegate for the World Zionist Congress. She’s doing it because, in her words, the slate “aligns perfectly with my values and my mission to strengthen Jewish pride and protect Israel. Aish Ha’Am is focused on building a movement rooted in education, Jewish identity, and empowerment. It’s about reconnecting Jews with their heritage and giving them the tools to stand up for themselves and their community. We’re not just fighting for the Jewish state; we’re fighting for the future of the Jewish people. This slate emphasizes action, unity, and faith — exactly what we need in these critical times.”

If elected, the dietician wants to be a voice for Jewish pride and unity and address the battle we’re fighting on two fronts: physical threats from terrorists as well as ideological threats from those who want to delegitimize Jewish identity and Israel. As a mother, she is invested in seeing the next generation of Jews embrace their heritage.

“My goal is to promote policies that strengthen Jewish education, combat antisemitism, and ensure the safety and security of Israel,” she said. “I also want to bridge the gap between generations by making Jewish identity more accessible and relevant for young Jews. We need to ignite a sense of belonging, pride, and responsibility in our communities. If we don’t inspire the next generation, there won’t be a future to fight for.”

Advice for the Young Jews of Today

In a time when young Jews are combating antisemitism, fighting assimilation, and dealing with their anti-Zionist peers on college campuses, embracing their Jewish identity may be the last thing on their mind. However, in light of all these challenges, Tanya has a message for them: Be proud of who you are.

“You come from a people who have survived the most unimaginable horrors and have thrived against all odds,” she said. “You are part of a story that spans thousands of years — a story of resilience, faith, and perseverance. Never apologize for being Jewish.”

Tanya encourages young Jews to educate themselves about their heritage, faith, and homeland, which she will continue to do if she is elected to the WZO Congress.

“When you see antisemitism or injustice, don’t be afraid to stand up and speak out,” she said. “Your voice matters. The future of the Jewish people depends on each of us taking pride in who we are and carrying that pride forward.”
