With each bite, you get the soft, spiced apple and silky custard melt together in a way that makes it irresistible. Ingredients

  • 6 peeled pink crispy apples thinly sliced and halved
  • 3 eggs
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 5 tablespoons sugar
  • 3/4 cup flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ΒΌ cup butter melted in the microwave (50 g)
  • 1 teaspoon orange and/or lemon zest optional
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • Β½ cup dairy free milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Garnish: powdered sugar

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350℉/180℃.
  • Place apple slices in a large bowl. In a separate deep bowl, beat 3 eggs with pinch of salt and sugar to a light yellow and airy hue, add flour and baking powder sifted through a sieve, mix to a uniform batter, add melted butter, mix well, add orange or lemon zest (optional) and cinnamon, add milk and vanilla extract and mix until there is a uniform batter.
  • Pour the batter over the cut apples, mix to a uniform mixture. Leave some apple slices aside to cover the top of the cake.
  • Grease a 13”x5” loaf pan with melted butter. Pour mixture into the mold. Arrange remaining apples over the batter as shown in the video.
  • Bake for 30 minutes at 350℉/180℃, lower the temperature to 300℉/150℃ and bake for another 30 minutes or until the cake is shaped and the apples have a golden-brown hue.
  • Remove from oven to cool, remove from pan and place on a cake plate, sprinkle with powdered sugar and serve warm or cold.
