The Arch of Titus and Israel’s triumph over a the Roman Empire.

In this video, we relive Rome’s bloody conquest of Judea, another all-out campaign intended once again to achieve the final undoing of the Jewish people. And so it nearly did. In 70 CE the Romans destroyed the Second Temple, laid waste to Jerusalem, and carried off innumerable Jewish slaves. Their victory, and their trophies, are displayed in the frieze of a gigantic triumphal arch that still stands in the city of Rome today. But exactly whose triumph, today, does the famous Arch of Titus represent? Watch with Rabbi Soloveichik as he explains what it all means.

Join Rabbi Dr. Meir Soloveichik on a Journey from Sinai as he explores the most influential book in world history – the Bible. The daily Bible 365 Podcast delves into the fascinating story of the Jewish people and will provide a year of learning that will change your life. Click here.
