As a stand-up, open-mic, failed comic myself, I never thought Dave Chappelle was particularly funny, or at least enough to laugh at, but that's prolly cuz I never thought any stand-up comic I saw (other than Norm MacDonald) was funny enough to laugh at. Reminds me of talent scouts who get paid to review comedy acts and make recommendations for hire or promotion, and when they do get together, talk shop, and agree on somebody or something, you rarely if ever see them laughing — but will occasionally see them shaking their head in agreement and say "yeah, that's funny".
