Excellent and informative. AI and much of it's direction seems very scary. I love this explanation on how it may play a very positive, vital role, in the messianic era. Well done!

I'm unaware of any actual mitzvah to bring Moshiach as Rabbi Jacobs says.In fact, nothing about the Jew's service to HaShem in this world depends on there being a Moshiach. True, when he comes, many changes in our service will take place, but those changes are not needed for our service to be complete at this time.
Also, the descendant of King David is NOT a political figure in any sense of the word. He is, rather, the divinely inspired leader destined to lead the Jewish people virtually from its inception.
Also, the world does not become one global community, but rather all of humanity will realize that the Jewish nation was chosen to reveal the presence and significance of HaShem in this world and to bring kedushah into it. All peoples will recognize this, but not become Jewish.

What I see is that given the opportunity - which includes both excuse and impunity - people will joyfully “release their demons” (ie, behave with violence, destruction and abuse) on the approved targets (such as minorities). When such opportunities are given but refused, then the era of Mashiach will arrive.

Instead of the obsession with the 'masciach' let us focus on making life on Earth more just and equal for all, including non-Jews.
Or maybe we should focus on fulfilling the given word of G-d which includes "being obsessed with mashiach" and not on universal human equality?
