Professor Jonathan M. Sackier

Jonathan M. Sackier is a London-born surgeon, innovator, author, pilot, and broadcaster who helped pioneer laparoscopic and robotic surgery. A former Professor of Surgery at George Washington University in Washington, DC and Visiting Professor at University of Oxford, he has published multiple scientific papers and medical textbooks, and lectured globally on medicine, technology, ethics, and innovation.

Additionally, Sackier has founded and advised numerous healthcare and medical technology companies and remains active in various medical ventures. He is Medical Counsel to the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association and writes the long-running Fly Well medical column for AOPA publications.

Together with Dr. Nigel Guest, Jonathan co-hosts the humorous medical podcast, Join the Docs, blending medicine, history, culture, and irreverent conversation for lay audiences. He is the co-author of the book Some Important Medical Sht: Diverticulosis & Diverticulitis.
