Around 1200 BC there were major political and cultural upheavels in Egypt. And Egypt's big experiment with Monotheism was being shut down. According to Torah not one but rather 4 to 6 ethnic groups followed Moses out of Egypt as part of the Exodus story. These 4 to 6 ethnic groups: Hebrews, Greeks, and Egyptions and others were proclaimed to be one people; whom are equal before G_d; which created a new nation. Exodus is a political / cultureal statement. A political / cultural statement that we all really need to hear and heed today.Israel was never a nation of just Hebrews; but was always a nation of mixed ethnic bodies, that formed a new nation. This is not me speaking; but rather Torah.

"Is the Exodus a myth or is archaeology etc " Rabbi Rowe
This was enjoyable and well presented. Here there was a very positive effort to link evidence with the Exodus.
Personally I don't prefer that crossing. I think they went south first to a familiar place.

It is thought that the Shasu YHWH may have been Gods fall back plan. Where did Moses go to when he fled? Obviously I would think it would be to family? The Shasu were descendants of Keturah [ ? Hagar] and linked to Kenites & Midianites. Her progeny may have adopted Abrahams teachings. hence YHWH.
When Aaron went to meet Moses it seems he knew from where he had been.
Food for thought
