David was trying to encourage his son Moishe to come to shul more often but Moishe said he was having trouble “connecting” to davening. So David told his son, “Think of Davening like you are talking to a good friend, but instead, you are talking to Hashem.”
They next Shabbos, everyone was quiet in shul when all of the sudden little Moishie burst out laughing.
"Moishie!" scolded his father, "Why are you laughing during davening?"
"But Abba," Moishie answered, "You told me that davening is like talking to a friend, and I just told him a really good joke."
