Mujadara is a Middle Eastern, lentils and rice dish with lots of crispy caramelized onions!

This time I used a short cut with Jamie Geller Mujadara Lentil Pilaf Mix, it’s a blend of lentils, caramelized onions, and aromatic spices that you add to rice and the result is so delicious! Best of all- it is so easy to prepare!

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 400°F.
  • In a wide pot with a lid, place the rice, the Mujadara Lentil Pilaf Mix, salt, cumin, oil and boiling water. Mix it all.
  • Cover with a lid and transfer to the oven on 400°F for 50 minutes.
  • Meanwhile, on the stove on medium heat, add olive oil to a pan and sauté the onions for 4 minutes, until they turn a clear color. Stir occasionally.
  • Add the salt and date syrup and stir for 2 more minutes until they become a nice caramelized color.
  • Take out the Mujadara from the oven and add the caramelized onions. Mix it gently.
  • Garnish with chopped parsley.
