Iran Missile Attack: A Night of Miracles

The night Iran rained down 180 ballistic missiles on Israel, all three defense systems were activated and implemented to perfection. The chances of these incredibly complex systems working in unison this flawlessly are minuscule.

I really don’t think we all understand the absolute miracles that we witnessed last week here in Israel.

In fact, I am sure we don’t.

Let’s break this down.

Israel has three air defense systems, each one of them a technological wonder and that’s not me saying it. That’s Dr. Daniel Gold who basically invented the Iron Dome who told me that. The level and sophistication of the Iron Dome is simply unparalleled.

But the Iron Dome only knows how to detonate short range rockets or missiles within a 70 km range, give or take.

Then Israel has the David’s Sling system. That knows how to deal with mid-range missiles up to approximately 300 km.

Then we have the Arrow system that detonates missiles that can fly outside of the earth’s atmosphere. That has a range of about 2,400 km!

The night Iran rained down 180 ballistic missiles on Israel, all three defense systems were activated and implemented to perfection.

The chances of all of these incredibly complex systems working in unison as flawlessly as they did that night are minuscule.

If one thing went wrong, if one of those ballistic missiles hit an apartment building, a shopping center, or an army base, we would now be burying hundreds of Israelis.

And all of that is not even the biggest miracle.

A few days ago, I got a WhatsApp message from a good friend who is a senior executive at Microsoft and who wasn’t exactly a God-fearing Jew. Until the night of the missile attack.

Here is what he wrote me:

“If you’re looking for miracles man - last night I started believing. Missiles hit all around me but none of them hit my house or any house, for that matter.”

He elaborated some more and shared info about the missiles that he watched land just meters away from very strategic places in Israel, to say the least.

Each one of those defense systems is, in and of itself, pretty miraculous, but what is even more insane is the low casualty numbers from the rockets and missiles that were NOT intercepted.

Where did those missiles go? I’ll tell you where. They landed in sand, in water, and in “empty spaces”.

Have you been to Israel? It’s a microscopic country. What empty spaces? Where are these empty spaces?

How have hundreds of Iranian ballistic missiles all either get detonated by miraculous systems or totally miss their mark and land in empty spaces causing zero casualties and minimal damage?

How?

Listen, I get it. This thought process begs the question, where was God during the horrible terrorist attack in Jaffa? Where was He on October 7th? Where was He during the Holocaust?

All valid questions that require a serious nuanced conversation.

But if you know anything about what had to happen the night Iran attacked Israel and throughout this war in general, for such a low number of casualties, you’ll know that what we witnessed last night was the equivalent of God splitting the sea.

Guess what, when God split the sea, there were those who didn’t believe it was a miracle and didn’t jump in. And there are also those who feel the need to explain it naturally. Ok, that’s fine.

You don’t want to call yesterday an act of God? That’s your choice, but like my Microsoft friend, if you look at these events objectively, you’d have a really hard time seeing those hundreds of deadly missiles land in empty spaces and not see the hand of God.

That missile attack was an incredible display of the collaboration between two of the powers that protect the Jewish people: The IDF and God.

That night will go down in history right alongside many of Israel’s accomplishments in this war including the beepers and the unprecedented low ratio between combatant and civilian, as a military operation the likes of which the world has never seen. Ever!

That night will be analyzed by military strategists and experts for generations.

That night, we witnessed history.

That night we witnessed open miracles.

That night, we witnessed God watching over His children.

Ouch...G-d protects the Jewish people not the IDF. He may choose to use the IDF as a natural means of protection but there is nothing behind the IDF other than G-d's Word.

Baruch HaShem! As we approach Yom Kippur we must strive to retain our faith in G-d, our trust in G-d, and increase our kind acts and mitzvot. We are ONE Klal Yisrael- we are one people, one unit. We feel each others joy, and each others pain

I've heard it explained that Oct7/Simchas Torah itself was also an open "miracle". Its just not how we usually use that word. What is an open miracle? When the hand of G-d was so obvious, so clear, so undeniable, statistically unlikely or even impossible. Nature CAN'T be the answer, the only explanation that makes sense is G-d. Or, nature isn't LIKELY the answer, it seems something other than a natural explanation makes MORE sense. How was it possible the attack on Oct7 even happened, according to nature?!?! A very powerful army took hours to respond, were caught off guard despite having the best intelligence and technology, the most protected and secure border fence in the world was breached ETC there is a lot more. G-d interfered with nature, and allowed this "miracle" to happen too

That is a very scary thought, but can't be dismissed out of hand. The failures of the army to protect Israel are on a par with the failures of the Arab countries in the Six-Day War, inexplicable without Gd. So why did He let this happen? Could it be because what Iran was preparing, invasions from all sides, was so monstrous it would have wiped out Israel? Like this, Sinwar jumped the gun and the plan is going up in smoke. Without all the victims of Oct.7, Israel would never been allowed to wage this kind of war. And Iran attacked Israel twice, unprecedented rocket attacks on another country that nevertheless did very little harm. Now Israel has the right to hit Iran back however they see fit, and Khamenei is hiding in a bunker like Nasrallah. Who would have foretold this a year ago?

Given that the previous year was one of great divisions and in-fighting, one could interpret this failure as necessary for a severe “wake-up call”. Indeed ever since 07 October 2023 I feel like I’m living a chapter of the book Shoftim - hope we come B”H to the redemption part soon!

I’m an American Catholic who loves our Jewish brothers and sisters. Watching the video just makes me cry. Many here are praying for Israel.

Shalom, Shalom ~

HaShem's Hand continues to hover over the Land, the People and His Living Word. The display of HaShem's Protective Power during our High Holy Days is meant to draw us, His People, to repentance and relationship. The Days of Awe/Repentance for this year, 5785, are closing. Come near. Experience His never-ending Love. Look up. The skies are filled with His Glory.

food for thought: this war has left hundreds of israeli children orphaned. israel is so proud of themselves for killing top commanders and the beeper operation. you ask a 4 year old who lost his father do you care about the beepers? do you care about Nasrallah?

Wiping out hamas and hezbolla is a fantasy, its not an attainable goal. why do we need to keep sending our loved ones to the frontlines? yes these terrorists are animals. so what? that warrants us sending our people to death?

Lets stop sucking on the lolipops this israeli brass wants us to, the beepers the heads, its all irrelevant really. we need to wake up that this is not a solution, period.

to go back to the pre- Oct 7 reality: here and there they send some rockets, we respond, sign a truce. yes, sounds terrible but this is much worse. that is the reality of this country until mashiach comes. and of course, never let something like oct 7 happen ever again, which in theory there is no reason why it should, given our vastly superior security capabilites. it shouldn't be difficult to prevent such a thing from happening again if you think about it

We go forwards not backwards! And we learnt the hard way if Hashem doesn't guard the city than for naught the guard is watching the city. Capitulation to a cease fire means Israel has the Bottom hand, not the upper.

what does that mean exactly? do we have the upper hand now with all of these orphans and widows? how does this realistically end with a victory? what is a victory even?

Yes, Israel has the upper hand!! Most of hezbolla leadership is gone. Same for chamas.
War is painful. War has casualties. War has a price.
The chamas has in its charter the Destruction of Israel. They have said they would do the same massacre AGAIN! The Destruction of chamas which is happening now must continue. To give up is to to commit suicide!

I would urge you to consider also accepting a glass half full approach. Not one word you’ve uttered in your comments is a lie- you speak the truth. But we must strive for something better- we cannot accept the prior status quo. We MUST do something. Diplomacy is a start. I don’t think that the tools of the US and Israeli diplomats- are well-honed. We don’t have the Golda Meirs, the Benjamin Franklins, the true geniuses with insight for advanced diplomacy with our adversaries. And amongst our adversaries, there must be advanced intelligent leaders who recognize that they don’t want their children orphaned too. There are moderates. More intelligent cooler heads should prevail. They MUST prevail. let’s not just sit back and wait for Meshach - let’s pursue diplomacy with the right minds

1) diplomacy is not an option with these animals

2) it is impossible to wipe out Hamas and Hezbollah because they are not a group, it is an infectious ideology that spreads like cancer. you kill 100, in a month there are 200 more. We are seeing that as we speak. Is there a clear solution to this? only A divine salvation. No, I am not arguing to dismantle the IDF. of course a certain level of deterrent has to be in place so things don't get out of hand. But if you ask me, if this war is better than the status quo where they would send a bi-annual rocket barrage which the irondome system can pretty much handle I would take the latter. They may want to perpetuate Oct 7 all they want but they don't have the capabilities, and you don't need an infinite war to ensure that.

Great article! Really eye opening! But I have to take issue with one paragraph:
"That missile attack was an incredible display of the collaboration between two of the powers that protect the Jewish people: The IDF and God."

There is only One power that protects the Jewish people, Hashem! Period! Ain Od Milvado!

Hashem gives the IDF the ability to be the "shliach" but when Hashem wants, the IDF is powerless, like we saw on 10/7.

I'm glad you said it, because otherwise I was going to have to say it. We have tremendous gratitude to the IDF but realize that our "Power" and our salvation lies only in His hands.

Ditto; the IDF, Israeli intelligence and technological know-how are Hashem's way of protecting us, but He and only He decides when His agents will be successful!
Of course, our brave soldiers et al deserve a yasher koach for their performance, but we need to pray for their success.

Beautiful Article Mr. Fuld,
I agree with everything except for the comment regarding "Two" of the powers that Collaborated to Protect the Jewish nation - you mention the (IDF) and G-D. It is really ONLY G-D who protects, defends and rescues us - He gives the Strength, might, abilities to the Israel Defense Force to perform their task and wills them to succeed in this regard.
We are very grateful to all the men and women in the IDF who go forth heroically and risk their lives to defend the nation.
Hashem Yisborach should continue to perform untold Miracles to and for the Jewish Nation, vanquish our enemies and reward our friends. He should reveal Moshiach and bring the Geulah very very very soon.
Good Yom Tov
