A lifelong New Yorker, Joan Sukenik Penn was born in Brooklyn into an Orthodox Ashkenazi and a Ladino speaking Sephardic family. She is a citizen of Spain through her Sephardic bloodline. She raised her family in Westchester, NY and is currently working on a novel loosely based on some of the colorful characters in her family.
