Deli Deductions

March 22, 2018 | by

Moishe Goldstein, the owner of Moishe’s Deli was being questioned by the IRS about his tax return. He had reported a net profit of $80,000 for the year.

"Why don't you people leave me alone?" Moishe asked. "I work like a dog, everyone in my family helps out, and, yes business isn’t very good. So why are you making a federal case about me making $80,000?"

"It's not your income that bothers us Mr. Goldstein," the agent said. "It's these deductions. You listed six trips to Miami for you and your wife."

"Oh, that," Moishe said, "I forgot to tell you - we also deliver."
