Yahrtzeit of Rabbi Chaim Soloveichik (1853-1918), a Talmudic genius who developed the "Brisker" approach to Torah study. This is a method of highly analytical study, with emphasis on the legal writings of Maimonides. At the young age of 27, Rabbi Soloveichik was chosen as senior lecturer in the Lithuania's Voluzhin yeshiva, the center of Jewish scholarship at the time. His wrote a commentary on Maimonides, entitled Chidushei Rebbe Chaim HaLevi.
