Chaim Yankel was one of Chelm’s least brightest sons and one day he was arrested for stealing.
The bailiff bought Chaim Yankel in front of the judge who read the charges, then asked, "Mr. Chaim Yankel Horowitz are you the defendant in this case?"
"No sir, your honor, sir," replied Chaim Yankel, "I've got a lawyer to do the defending. I'm the guy who did it."
