Rosh Hashanah 2023, (the Jewish New Year), begins on Friday evening, September 15 at sunset and ends in the evening of Sunday, September 17. According to the Hebrew calendar, Rosh Hashanah falls on the 1st and 2nd of the month of Tishrei.
One is obligated to hear the Shofar blasts on both the two days of Rosh Hashanah. However, when the first day falls on a Shabbat, we refrain from blowing the Shofar on that day and we only blow it on the 2nd day.
