Michal Oshman - What Would You Do If You Weren't Afraid Article
Pressure. Unrelenting Pressure.
We all feel it from time to time.
Whether it’s from work, family or the voice inside our head, it can feel overwhelming.
Michal Oshman knows all about it. As an executive for some of the most
successful companies in the world (Facebook, TikTok) she looked like she
had it all. An incredible education, a beautiful family, good health and a
blossoming career. But deep within, she held crippling fear and anxiety.
Michal tried therapy to address some traumatic events she experienced as a
child, especially hearing her grandmother, a Holocaust survivor, who
frequently woke up screaming in terror in the middle of the night. But for
some reason it just wasn’t working, until a chance Google word search
involving depression and Judaism opened her up to a whole new world,
filled with hope and compassion.
She learned to remove herself emotionally from her negative thoughts and replace them with positivity. It took tremendous inner work, but the results were astonishing.
In today’s episode of Beyond Belief, we speak with Head of Culture at TikTok EMEA and noted author of the new book, What Would You Do If You Weren’t Afraid: Discover a Life FIlled With Purpose and Joy Through the Secrets of Jewish Wisdom, Michal Oshman, as she breaks down her journey from anxious and fearful young woman to inspirational, global thought leader who utilized ancient Jewish wisdom to inject meaning and purpose into every moment of her life.
