Discuss the Jewish value of giving with your children.

Hindy and Goldy were walking to school last Monday, when they saw old Mr. Green going to pick up his newspaper from the sidewalk in front of his home.

Since he walked with a cane, it looked like it would be hard for him to bend down to pick up the newspaper.

“Poor Mr. Green,” said Hindy. “Let’s help him.”

And she quickly ran right over to his house, picked up his newspaper, and gave it to him.

“Thank you,” said Mr. Green.

“You certainly are a Helpful Hindy!”

That afternoon, on her way home from school, Hindy suddenly saw the blue ball of her little neighbor Billy roll into the street!

“Billy, no! Don’t go get it!” yelled Hindy. “I’ll get your ball for you!”

Hindy looked up and down the street.

Since no cars were coming, she quickly ran into the street, picked up little

Billy’s blue ball, and then gave it to him.

“Thank you, Hindy,” said Billy. “You certainly are a Helpful Hindy!”

A few minutes later Hindy saw oranges rolling all over the sidewalk! Mrs. Roth had dropped the big bag of oranges she was carrying, and oranges were rolling everywhere!

“I’ll get them for you!” called out Helpful Hindy. And she did.

After all the oranges were back in her bag, Mrs. Roth said, “Thank you Helpful Hindy!”

What a wonderful, happy day Helpful Hindy had!
