Forgiving a Big Hurt
How do I forgive someone who hurt me deeply? I put all my trust in her. I don't wish her anything bad. But I am finding it difficult to move on without resentment.
The Aish Rabbi Replies
Please keep two things in mind:
1) The hurt we suffer is an atonement for the mistakes we make. If you would not have suffered at her hands, you would have suffered at the hands of someone else.
2) The valuable lessons about life that you learned from this experience will serve you well in the future.
It is a special mitzvah to clear your heart of resentments - both for the sake of the other person, and also for your own peace of mind.
May the Almighty give you strength and clarity.
