Dr. Howard Smith

Dr. Howard Smith is a Senior Astrophysicist in the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics and an active researcher, teacher, and a longtime student of Jewish mysticism. He is the author of the book, Let There Be Light: Modern Cosmology and Kabbalah, a New Conversation between Science and Religion. He publishes frequently on science and religion and the essential, complementary roles they play in helping us understand the cosmos, the Divine, and what might be going on. He emphasizes the new and radical implications of recent discoveries, principally those made in the past fifty years. He is completing a new book with a modern cosmology commentary on Meir ibn Gabbai’s Kabbalistic work, called Secrets of Creation, with a new English translation by Rabbi Art Green and art work by Debra Band.
