A native of Chicago, Shua Winter graduated with honors in Political Science and Philosophy from the University of Illinois Urbana/Champaign. He then moved to Israel to study at advanced Talmudic seminaries, earning his rabbinic ordination in 2006. While in Israel he earned his Law degree from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and worked in the international division of a large Tel Aviv law firm, specializing in Israeli hi-tech venture capital. In 2007 the Winter family moved to Los Angeles to work for the Jewish Awareness Movement (JAM) on the UCLA campus, living on fraternity row and hosting hundreds of students. Rabbi Winter now serves as Religious Life Advisor at Columbia University, sharing the Torah’s wisdom in a refreshingly accessible way. Rabbi Winter lives with his wife and five children in New Jersey.
