Chaim Yankel decided it was time to look for a job outside of his home city of Chelm. He managed to get an interview, and when he came home his mother was waiting for him with interest.

“Nu, how did it go, Chaim Yankel,” his mother asked.

"Pretty good, I think," replied Chaim Yankel, "but if I go to work there I won't get a vacation until I'm married."

Chaim Yankel’s mother had never heard of such a thing. "Is that what they told you?"

"No," replied Chaim Yankel, "but right on the application it said 'vacation time may not be taken until you've had your First Anniversary.'"
