Join Scholar in Residence, Aish Rabbi Tom Meyer as we come to understand Jewish life in Eastern Europe, its destruction and current rebirth in the former Soviet Union. We will visit thriving Aish branches in Moscow and Kiev and also travel with Rabbi Eliyahu Esses, the former refusnik and leader of the underground Torah network movement in the 70's and 80's in the USSR.

Being Jewish is a very personal experience. Have you ever asked yourself why am I Jewish? How was it possible in the iron crucible of Eastern Europe that our forefathers and mothers held on so faithfully to their heritage and lived prowdly as Jews? They never gave up hope. Would we have done the same?

In today's world of material plenty, where we live with relative freedom and security, such questions are almost impossible to address with the seriousness they deserve. And therefore we have less and less understanding of who we are as individual Jews and as a people. The past is grainy black and white photos and video testimonials, but first hand experience is missing.

Aish Tours invites you to take a step back into Eastern European life. You will encounter the power and meaning of our heritage and how it enabled a People, often under tremendous oppression, to survive, and in Russia and the Ukraine, to thrive.

You will see more than tourist sites, stay in fine hotels, travel in comfort and taste fine cuisine. You will have personal contact with Aish Scholars in Residence, inspiring discussions and state of the art programming to help you understand your own place in the destiny of the Jewish People. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity.
